Last updated 11/25/2018

This post is a work in progress.

# Install WGET

sudo apt-get install wget

# Verify WGET Version

wget —version

# Download the Microsoft repository GPG keys

wget -q https://packages.microsoft.com/config/ubuntu/14.04/packages-microsoft-prod.deb

# Register the Microsoft repository GPG keys

sudo dpkg -i packages-microsoft-prod.deb

# Update the list of products

sudo apt-get update

# Install PowerShell

sudo apt-get install -y powershell

# Start PowerShell

pwsh

Does it work?

If it doesn’t, just edit your apt sources:

# cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/microsoft.listdeb

# [arch=amd64] https://packages.microsoft.com/debian/stretch/prod stretch main

Notes:

To edit sources use vim

https://www.maketecheasier.com/vim-keyboard-shortcuts-cheatsheet/

delete source

The following packages have unmet dependencies: powershell : Depends: libssl1.0.0 but it is not installable Depends: libicu52 but it is not installable
